H1N1 and Seasonal Flu Clinics

Every Wednesday in February; 2:00-4:00 PM
February 10, 2010, after hours clinic 4:00-6:00 PM
These are walk in clinics, no appointments will be made.

H1N1 clinic open to everyone 6 months of age and older.  Second doses are available for children age 9 and under if the first dose was received at least 28 days prior to the clinic. 
There is no charge for H1N1 vaccine

Seasonal flu information:
Cost is $25.00  OR  if you have Medicare Part B, Medical Assistance or MN Care, Crow Wing County will bill.
Some $5.00 vaccine is available for children ages 2 years - 18 years who meet MN Vaccine for Children eligibility guidelines. 
If your private insurance covers this vaccine in full, you are asked to go to your provider or pay the $25.00 fee; no one is turned away for inability to pay.  Crow Wing County Health does not bill private insurances.

 Minnesota State High School League Position Statement
Regarding Tournaments & H1N1 Flu Outbreaks

 Subsection, section and state competition is already underway in several fall athletic activities.  Although unlikely, but entirely possible, outbreaks of the serious novel H1N1 flu virus could impact some teams or individuals involved in these tournaments.

What would happen if a team or individual is unable to compete due to the novel H1N1 flu virus?

•  In all circumstances, the health ramifications of potentially spreading the novel H1N1 flu virus must be considered before teams or individuals are allowed to compete.
• Teams/individuals must forfeit a contest if they are unable to compete at any level of competition.  However, forfeits are not required if a sufficient number of healthy athletes will allow a team to continue competition without the use of those athletes that are ill.
• No individual or team will advance in tournament competition if a forfeit occurs.

“The League Board of Directors is very sensitive to the impact this policy may have on student-athletes and their communities.  Forfeiting due to illness is not the desired outcome of any competition at any level.  However, the reality is that the novel H1N1 flu is a serious illness that is spread rather easily.  Plus, the constraints of time and venue availability require that this difficult, yet necessary, directive must be enforced.”  (MSHSL Executive Director David Stead)

ACTIVITIES DEPARTMENT USING NEW
SCHEDULING PROGRAM for 2009-10

Starting this year PequotLakes will be utilizing a new scheduling program for activities.  The program is called rschoolstoday and it will allow fans and families greater access to information regarding the athletic schedules.

To access the scheduling program, click on Activities on the left side of the screen, then click on Sports Schedules.  Once there you will be able to see the events for the day.  By following the prompts, you can look at the weekly schedule or check a future date.  You can also click on a specific team to get their entire schedule.

The program also offers two new features called “subscribe” and “notify me”.  Those icons are located near the top, right portion of the page.  By clicking on the “subscribe” feature, you can register to receive an electronic weekly schedule.  The “notify me” feature allows you to set up your computer so that you will receive an e-mail reminder prior to the events of your choice.  This feature also allows you to be notified by email any time the schedule changes.
